Fantasy Football Week Five Waiver Wire Options!

Week 5 of the Fantasy Football season begins Thursday October 8, 2015 and with 25 percent of the season now in the can it’s time to begin seriously looking at your rosters to see what works and more importantly what doesn’t. It’s also the first big “bye” week so you need to deal with that too. I have some options for you to consider for week number 5…..so let’s get started.

Each of the players below is available in over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Football Leagues.

Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens have a favorable matchup with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. This season Flacco has had two 300+ yard passing games and he’s had two below 200 yard passing games but he’s thrown for 1,052 yards and 5 touchdowns and I’d be remiss if I didn’t add that he’s also thrown five interceptions this season. The Browns defense is coughing up 264 yards per game and 9 touchdowns with just 1 interception. It’s also important to note the Browns also have allowed five 40 or more yard passing plays so they are susceptible to the big play. If Flacco can accomplish this you will look like the smartest owner in your league this week.

I like tandems and if you are going with Flacco this week you might also want to consider WR Kamar Aiken. The main reason is the matchup with Cleveland and the other is the amount of targets he’s been seeing including 7 targets against Pittsburgh for 5 catches and a touchdown. Aiken has 4 catches this season over 20 yards and with Cleveland being susceptible to big plays Aiken might be worthy of consideration this week.

If you need a TE this week you might want to consider the Denver Broncos Owen Daniels. He has a favorable matchup with the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon and has scored touchdowns in each of his last 2 games. Over the season he’s had 21 balls thrown his way with 12 receptions for 61 yards and of course those 2 touchdowns. Tight ends have had 32 catches for 388 yards and 6 touchdowns against the Raiders defense this season and it could be more of the same this Sunday.

The Browns Duke Johnson had his best week of the season and while he’s not the Browns number 1 running back he is their top receiving option out of the backfield. Johnson scored his first touchdown of the season on a 34 yard pass from QB Josh McCown that was one of his 9 catches on 10 tagets for 85 yards receiving on the day. Johnson also ran the ball for 31 yards on 8 carries so he is a part of this Browns offense. His matchup this week against the Ravens passing defense that allows 258 yards per game via the air leads me to believe Johnson might be a decent waiver wire option this week.

Good luck this week Fantasy Football owner!
