FanDuel MLB Top Picks, Stacks and Pitching Options for Tuesday April 25, 2017

We have 14 games on the main MLB slate tonight at FanDuel. Tonight is a Clayton Kershaw ($12,700) night and really not many other options even close to him. We also have Coors field in play tonight as well.

Keep an eye on the weather in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Colorado as there is rain expected in those cities this evening. I use this site for up to the minute forecasts and it’s amazing just how accurate this site is.

Starting Pitching

As I mentioned before we have Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw ($12,700) on tonight’s slate. He’ll probably dominate the Giants tonight with their 20 percent strikeout rate, .289 wOBA and 85 wRC+ so if you want to spend up he’s the man.

St Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha ($7700) has a very good opportunity tonight against a Blue Jays offense with a 24 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of 274 and wRC+ of 74 against righties this season. Wacha has an 18 percent strikeout rate and a 12.3 percent swinging strike rate with a 3.69 SIERA and xFIP of 3.88.

This might be a bit of a gamble but I like the opportunity San Francisco Giants SP Ty Blach ($5500) has against a Dodgers offense with a 21 percent strikeout rate, .295 wOBA and wRC+ of 87 against left handed pitchers this season. There is such a small sample size in regards to stats but using Blach tonight will allow you to use practically every bat you desire tonight.

I also have some interest tonight in San Diego Padres SP Clayton Richard ($6700) against an Arizona Diamondbacks offense with a 24 percent strikeout rate, .274 wOBA and wRC+ of 66 against lefties this season. Richard has a 16 percent strikeout rate, an 8.3 percent swinging strike rate with a 3.17 SIERA and 3.13 xFIP. Using Richard tonight frees up a LOT of cash to use on bats.

Stacking Opportunities for Tonight

Obviously Coors is in play tonight and you can figure that one out all by yourself. Here is what I am currently considering for tonight.

The Tampa Bay Rays rank 5th in Major League Baseball against left handers; and the reverse splits for Orioles SP Wade Miley suggest its actually left handed bats that seem to do the most damage against Miley. Rays OF Corey Dickerson ($3000), 2B Brad Miller ($3100) and Kevin Kiermaier ($3200) are all excellent options tonight. I would obviously also consider 3B Evan Longoria ($3300), OF Rickie Weeks ($2200) and Steven Souza Jr. ($3500) tonight.

The New York Yankees have been killing right handed pitching this season. As luck would have it and weather permitting they will face Red Sox right hander Rick Porcello tonight. Left handed bats seem to be giving Porcello the most trouble thus far this season so by all means look to Yankees 3B Chase Headley ($3400), OF Jacoby Ellsbury ($3600), OF Brett Gardner ($3100) and OF Aaron Hicks ($3200) are the top left handed bats in a very potent Yankee lineup.

Los Angeles Angels right hander J.C. Ramirez seems to have trouble with left handed bats and Oakland have a couple of good ones in 1B Yonder Alonso ($2600), C Stephen Vogt ($2700) and 2B Jed Lowrie ($2300). I suppose you can also use OF Khris Davis ($3600) tonight as well. If I were using Kershaw tonight this stack would also be in that lineup.

Phil’s Top Three Plays for Tonight

Baltimore Orioles 1B Chris Davis ($3300) has a good opportunity tonight against Rays SP Erasmo Ramirez and his 7.84 xFIP against left handed batters. Davis is one of those all or nothing type of hitters strictly for GPP tournaments only and this season he has a .278 ISO, .365 wOBA and wRC+ of 139 against righties this season. He also has a 36 percent strikeout rate so expect one or more of those tonight as well.

Kansas City Royals 1B Eric Hosmer ($2700) has struggled this season but he does have a good opportunity tonight against White Sox rightie Dylan Covey ($5900). Covey has struggled to get anyone out this season and Hosmer has a .257 wOBA and wRC+ of 61 against righties this season. Hosmer has too good a track record against righties to not at least consider him tonight.

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano ($3800) has a nice opportunity tonight against Tigers right-hander Jordan Zimmerman and his 5.94 xFIP against lefties this season. For his part Cano has a .220 ISO, .380 wOBA and wRC+ of 156 against right handers this season.
