There are ten games on the main MLB slate at FanDuel this afternoon. It looks as though just two games might have weather issues (Mariners @ Indians and Reds @ Cardinals) so you might want to consult this site here for the most up to date weather information on the interwebs.

Starting Pitching Options for Sunday

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer ($9100) has a good opportunity this afternoon against a Toronto Blue Jays offense with a 22 percent strikeout rate, wOBA of .279 and wRC+ of 77 against right handed pitchers this season. This season Archer is striking out 23 percent of the hitters he’s faced with a 4.07 SIERA and 4.18 xFIP this season.

Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes ($6700) has a good opportunity today against a Kansas City Royals offense with a 21 percent strikeout rate, .270 wOBA and wRC+ of 68 against right handers this season. This season Hughes is striking out 14 percent of the hitters he’s faced with a 4.74 SIERA and 4.93 xFIP this season. This is risky but Hughes has been decent this season.

Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross ($6200) has a good opportunity this afternoon against a New York Mets offense with a 20 percent strikeout rate, .285 wOBA and wRC+ of 77 against right handed pitchers this season. Ross has struck out 18 percent of the hitters he’s faced this season with a 4.37 SIERA and 4.51 xFIP this season. There is risk but the rewards are pretty good for Ross today.

Stacking Options for This Afternoon

I like the Houston Astros today against Oakland A’s SP Jesse Hahn. Hahn has more success against right handed bats this season and I like Astros left handed bats Josh Reddick ($3100), Nori Aoki ($2900), Carlos Beltran ($2800) and Brian McCann ($3200) a bit more than the Astros right handed bats today.

Baltimore Orioles SP Wade Miley has been having more trouble with left handed hitters than right handed bats this season so I’m considering Yankees hitters Aaron Hicks ($3300), Chase Headley ($3500),  Brett Gardner ($2900) and Jacoby Ellsbury ($3300) come to mind today.

Seattle Mariners SP Chase de Jong has his hands full today with a Cleveland Indians offense with a .336 wOBA and wRC+ of 119 against right handed pitchers this season. Francisco Lindor ($4000), Michael Brantley ($4100), Abraham Almonte ($2700) and Lonnie Chisenhall ($3000) are the bats I would use today if I were to stack Indians hitters.

Phil’s Top Three Picks for Sunday

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman ($4400) has a very good opportunity this afternoon against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza. In 80 plate appearances against righties this season Freeman has a wOBA of .507 and a wRC+ of 215. Garza has a 4.00 WHIP and xFIP of 11.99 against lefties this season. This is just about as good as it gets.

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano ($4000) has a good opportunity this afternoon against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin. Cano has a .355 wOBA and wRC+ of 137 against righties this season whereas Tomlin has a 1.92 WHIP and 4.00 xFIP against lefties this season. This is going to be a high scoring game and I think Cano will be a big part of that today.

Baltimore Orioles 3B Manny Machado ($3300) has a good opportunity today against New York Yankees leftie Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery has a 1.53 WHIP and 4.82 xFIP against right handed batters while Machado has a wOBA of .434 and wRC+ of 187 against lefties this season. Lots of runs expected today and Machado has a great opportunity today.
